Reframe Your Approach to Grading and Feedback

As a writing instructor, I’ve picked up a few helpful strategies for giving feedback to student writers. The big takeaways are:

  1. Prioritize the things that are most important to that assignment
  2. Try to write feedback as an informant – your students are learning to write for a particular community
  3. Work with the writer & help students develop over the long term
