This semester I tried to take a more collaborative approach to how students in my class approached the research process and found that they really got a lot out of working together.
Here are some of the strategies I found helpful:
- Encouraging students to get involved in research first-hand by doing primary research.
- Planning the course backwards so that writing assignments and activities can better support the research process.
- Having students work in research groups that way they can share and reflect on the primary and secondary sources they collect.
